Deviousness |
Be carefull about the face anotomy though; his forehead appears non-existant or way too short compared to the rest of his face and body here. Also, the colarbones are supposed to reach high unto the shoulder. In this picture though his right clavicle goes straight instead of up.
Shading-wise, I believe you are using some kind of a "burn" tool in a coloring program, right? That can work, but as a unique tone of skin is used it can give off a mute, kind of flat result. Picking a color some shades darker for shadows, and other shades lighter for hightlights will help on that, and also give lots of different tones of multiple colors. For a smoother results in strokes, don't be afraid to play on the transparency of the brush but also mainly on its size to smoothen out the edges if you wish for that kind of styles (the opposite of cell-shading). A little trick: a thick, semi-transparent light brush could also add some kind of a "dreamy" effect on the wings and amke them stand out even more as "pure" against a darker background.
The character looks angsty and contemplative and I love the different stripes on him. For an even darker look, you could try deepening the shadows or darkening the whole, but it seems you have passed a lot oftime on that picture already. Keep up the good work! ^^
